The Bukas Loob sa Diyos Catholic Charismatic Covenant Community is a pioneering lay organization in the Philippine renewal movement. Founded in June 1985, BLD has been organizing life-changing Encounter retreats for families, married couples, singles, solo parents and the youth; and a Christian life program, the Life in the Spirit Seminar.
These evangelization programs have transformed and uplifted thousands of lives through the shepherding of Community disciples towards the path of wholeness through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is what the Community is all about: opening our hands, our minds, our hearts, and our whole being to the Spirit of the Living God – Bukas Loob sa Diyos.
Transformation begins when those who are called to Community life take that first big step in committing to the new life and healing journey that Jesus Christ offers through the Community.
After our Encounter with the Lord in the Retreat or in the Seminar, a member journey through formation and pastoral care programs that lead to our Covenanting with the Lord: we seal our relationship with God, we become His servant, His bridesmaid, His beloved.
As we are transformed in Christ, we too follow Christ’s mission in reaching out to the downtrodden and the poorest of the poor.
Through our homegrown Scholarship of Hope, we support poor students under the country’s public school system. We select beneficiaries regardless of a student’s academic status—from high-achievers to the academically challenged—as long as the student is willing to acquire education.
Aside from these, we regularly conduct mission activities to care and empower the old, the sick, abandoned women and children, prisoners and survivors of natural disasters.
In Metro Manila, BLD is governed and managed through the Bukas Loob sa Diyos Metro Manila District Foundation, Inc. (BLDMMDFI), which goes by the name of BLD Manila District. A non-profit, non-stock corporation, BLD Manila is the mother district of the BLD Global Community.
BLD Manila remains true to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and submits to the authority of the Roman Pontiff and the Diocesan Bishop of the local church. We also follow the ways and directions of the BLD Global Community through its Executive Council of Servant Leaders in empowering the lay faithful in spreading God’s love and promoting Christian values through Encounter and Renewal programs and various ministries.
