Message of Rev. Fr. Victor C. De Jesus, S.J., Spiritual Director of the
District of Manila, on the Occasion of Bukas Loob sa Diyos Catholic
Charismatic Covenant Community’s 32nd Anniversary – 19 June 2017
Dear Brothers and Sisters and especially our Covenanted and Committed Disciples,
A blessed 32nd anniversary of our community constantly called to grow in being bukás-loób sa Diyós, open to and generous with God!
Last Sunday, the Eucharist reminds us that in Christ, we are to be like bread broken and wine outpoured for the renewed evangelization of our country, our church, and our world.
Current events in 2017 especially in Lanao del Sur and environs show us the terrible effects of extremist Islamism that is not truly Islamic. We Filipino Catholic Christians should pray with and for the Islamic community and establish ties with them through inter-‐religious Dialogue and Inter-religious cooperation to prevent more Muslims from joining the violent and ideological pseudo-Islamic Islamist terrorist groups.
Let our formation program integrate Studies in Islam and inter-‐religious dialogue in keeping with Church teaching. Let us reach out also to the poor in Muslim enclaves in Metro Manila and other city centers and show them that we are united in our shared faith in Abraham, in Jesus (Issa) and Mary (Maryam) and in the importance of works of mercy, especially for the needs of the poor and hungry.
This 21st century challenge to the Church and to BLD (OSG) is the Spirit’s call to all.
Yours truly in the Lord,
Fr. Victor C. de Jesus SJ
District Spiritual Director
